COLOR THAT HAS A DESTINATION

Rainbow text for code or pixels.

Build a smooth gradient or per-letter spectrum, copy safe HTML and CSS for a website, or download a high-resolution PNG for platforms that cannot paste colored text.

One word, seven independently visible colors.

LIVE OUTPUT LAB

Design once. Export the right representation.

Website code keeps the words selectable. PNG fixes the appearance. Copying plain text alone cannot carry color, so the tool never labels unstyled clipboard text as “rainbow.”

THE HANDOFF RULE

Social posts, chat fields, and ordinary clipboard text do not carry arbitrary colors. Use an image there. Use semantic HTML plus CSS on a website. Never paste code into a field that does not explicitly accept HTML.

THREE OUTPUTS, THREE CONTRACTS

Choose what must remain editable.

The same rainbow can be represented as one gradient-clipped element, many colored spans, or pixels. Each route changes accessibility, portability, and maintenance.

GRADIENT CSS

One semantic element

Best for a web heading when a smooth color transition is enough. The text stays selectable and easy to update.

Fallback color is still required.
PER-CHARACTER HTML

Discrete letter colors

Useful when every character needs a solid assigned color. The generated spans are escaped and marked decorative to reduce noisy repetition.

More markup to maintain.
PNG IMAGE

Fixed appearance

Useful for a social graphic or raster composition. Repeat the words in nearby text or alt text so the message is accessible.

Not selectable or responsive.

COLOR DOES NOT CANCEL CONTRAST

A rainbow can fail one letter at a time.

Every point in a gradient or every character color must remain legible against the background. Thin yellow on white may disappear even when red and blue pass.

  1. 01Preview the lightest color against the real background.
  2. 02Avoid gradient text for long paragraphs and essential instructions.
  3. 03Disable animation when motion adds no information; respect reduced-motion preferences.
  4. 04Keep a solid fallback color before the clipping properties.

IMPLEMENTATION CHECK

Paste code deliberately.

CMS

Use a custom HTML block only when your publishing policy permits it. Put CSS in the theme or approved custom-CSS area.

EMAIL

Client support varies. Per-character inline colors may travel better than background-clipped gradients, but test the actual send.

DESIGN APP

Use PNG for quick placement. Rebuild as editable type and vector effects when production flexibility matters.

USER INPUT

Do not let untrusted people inject generated HTML without sanitization. The code here safely escapes your typed text.

RAINBOW TEXT ANSWERS

Before the color leaves this page.

Can I copy rainbow text into Instagram or Facebook?+

Not as colored plain text. Download the PNG and upload it as an image, then repeat the message in the caption or alt text where available.

What is the difference between gradient and per-character mode?+

Gradient mode clips one continuous CSS background to the text. Per-character mode assigns a solid palette color to each non-space character using individual spans.

Does the animation respect reduced-motion settings?+

Yes. The generated CSS includes a prefers-reduced-motion rule that disables the animation for people who request less motion.

Is the generated HTML safe?+

The tool escapes the text you enter before putting it into a code snippet. Any website that accepts user-generated HTML must still sanitize it on the server.

Does ToolMerit upload my text or PNG?+

No. Preview, code generation, clipboard requests, and canvas export happen in this browser tab.
