WORKING VOICE TRANSLATOR

Use one short segment at a time.

Translation uses MyMemory’s external translation service. Microphone recognition may use your browser’s speech service. English playback uses a voice installed on your device.

Review and listen

Your English translation will appear here.

Ready for a short Tagalog segment.

A

Translation request

The typed or recognized Tagalog text is sent to MyMemory for translation. ToolMerit does not store it in this page.

B

Microphone recognition

Availability varies. In some browsers, audio is processed by an online speech-recognition service rather than locally.

C

English playback

The edited English result is read through your device’s speech-synthesis voices. No audio file is created.

THE HONEST BOUNDARY

Useful for understanding.
Not a certified interpretation.

USE IT FOR

Travel, messages, drafts

Short directions, everyday questions, informal chat, study checks, and a first-pass understanding.

VERIFY WITH A PERSON

Medical, legal, safety

Consent, diagnoses, contracts, emergency instructions, immigration, financial commitments, and culturally sensitive communication.

ADD CONTEXT

Pronouns and “po” matter

Tagalog can omit subjects and encode respect or relationship in particles. A short isolated sentence may have more than one natural English reading.

BETTER INPUT, BETTER OUTPUT

Three ways to reduce ambiguity.

A translator sees the text you send—not the room, relationship, gesture, or earlier conversation.

  1. 01

    Keep a complete thought together

Translate “Pakisara ang pinto dahil malamig” as one segment instead of splitting the reason from the request.

  2. 02

Include names when pronouns are unclear

“Sinabi ni Ana kay Luis…” gives the translator more grounding than a chain of siya/niya references.

  3. 03

Edit names and places after dictation

Speech recognition can mishear proper nouns, mixed Tagalog-English phrases, and background conversation. Read the transcript before translating.

VOICE TRANSLATOR ANSWERS

What each button really does.

Does voice input translate audio directly?+

No. The browser first turns Filipino speech into editable text. The tool then sends that text for translation. This lets you correct names or recognition mistakes before the second step.

Why does the microphone button not work?+

Speech recognition has limited browser support, requires a secure connection and permission, and may not support Filipino on every device. You can always type or paste the Tagalog text.

Is translation performed on my device?+

No. The Tagalog segment is sent to the external MyMemory API. English speech synthesis normally uses the voices exposed by your device and browser.

Why is there a 500-byte limit?+

MyMemory’s documented public endpoint accepts a maximum 500-byte UTF-8 segment. Filipino characters can use more than one byte, so this tool counts encoded bytes rather than only visible characters.

Can it translate Taglish?+

It may, but mixed-language sentences are less predictable. Check proper nouns, product terms, and words intentionally left in English.

Can I rely on it for medical or legal communication?+

No. Use a qualified human interpreter or translator for rights, consent, safety, diagnosis, contracts, or other high-stakes decisions.
