PNG is lossless after the frame is decoded—not before.

The selected frame’s decoded pixel dimensions, transparency capability of the PNG format, and a still image that is convenient for design or documentation.

NOT RECOVERED

Detail already lost to video compression, motion blur, low resolution, noise reduction, chroma subsampling, or an out-of-focus source.

NOT INCLUDED

Audio, animation, captions, surrounding frames, camera metadata, and the original video encoding do not become part of the PNG.

How do I convert MP4 to PNG?+

Can I convert an entire MP4 to PNG images?+

This page can generate up to 20 evenly spaced frames across a chosen time range. It is designed for selecting useful stills, not exporting every video frame from a long production.

Why is the PNG blurry?+

The source frame may contain motion blur, compression, low resolution, or focus problems. PNG prevents new lossy image compression but cannot recreate missing detail.

Is my video uploaded?+

No. The file is opened as a temporary local browser URL and processed with the browser’s video and canvas features.
